How to join national defence academy NDA

To join National Defence Academy a candidate must appear in the entrance exam conducted by Union Public Service Commission, twice a year, normally in month of March and September. Candidate must be a unmarried male. To join NDA one must pass written followed by SSB, medicals and finally to be in merit list.

Written Examination Scheme
Written exam consists of 2 papers 1st mathematics(300) and 2nd is  of general ability test(600=200+400).mathematics paper consists of topics from  11th and 12th standard mathematics while 2nd paper have English(200) and G.K.(400) as its part A and part B NDA Coaching In Chandigarh

1. Build your study schedule week wise.
2. As your NDA exam syllabus and 12th class syllabus is same, you can easily make your schedule in such a way so that you can prepare for both.
3. In your spare time revise your 10th standard social science books. You should have the knowledge of basic principles of geography and history, so focus on these books and don’t let them collect dust.
4. Make your own notes including important points to remember.
5. Brush your General awareness and for this, ideally you should read newspaper daily but it doesn’t always happen. So best way is to pick up a book covering current information of general areas including sports, international sports, popular authors and books as well. In this way you can keep yourself updated and if you have time, you can make notes of important facts too.
6. Try to practice more and more to improve your English and don’t ever taken it lightly. English section is of 200 marks and with a bit of daily practicing or reading English newspaper, you could score well. Error finding and un- jumbling based questions are asked regularly in competitive exams. Do focus on that and thorough understanding of PARTS OF SPEECH will help you do well in this error handling.

SSB (Service Selection Board) Interview:

  • Written test qualifiers will progress for an SSB interview. Main motive is to determine the personality of the candidates.
  • SSB Training consists-Five days of personality & intelligence test
    Day 1: SSB Basic intelligence test will be taken.
    Day 2:SSB Psychological test will be taken.
    Day 3 & Day 4: SSB Group testing will be taken by Group testing officers ( GTO ).
    Day 5: Conference by SSB
* Group discussion ( GD)& Personal interview (PI) can also be taken in between 2-4 day

INTELLIGENCE AND PERSONALITY TEST:
In order to assess basic intelligence,verbal & non- verbal intelligence test is taken for the candidates. Candidates are also supposed to go through group tests, i.e. group discussions(GD), group-planning, outdoor group tasks and to give brief lectures on particular topics. These tests are conducted to examine the mental ability of the candidates.

TIPS FOR NDA WRITTEN EXAM

English and Analysis of Current Affairs. NDA exam has two papers of 2 ½ hrs each. All questions are objective type. First paper of Maths and Second General Ability.

Mathematics : Covers the syllabus of XI and XII class. There are more questions from Class XI syllabus. Total 120 questions carrying 300 marks. Therefore, a student gets about a minute plus to solve each question. It is essential for candidate to practice shortcut techniques, 



General Ability : The paper has 150 questions carrying 600 marks. The candidate has exactly a minute to solve each question. The paper comprises of three sections i.e. English, Science and General Knowledge, each section has 50 questions. The candidate should brush up his basic grammar as all questions of English section are on absolute basic grammar involving correction of Errors in a Sentence, ordering of words in a sentence, ordering of sentences in a paragraph, Antonyms, Synonyms and Comprehension etc. The Science portion has maximum questions of Physics (more conceptual), Chemistry (quite straight) and Biology (absolutely factual).

General Knowledge: portion comprises History, Indian Polity, and Geography. Most questions in HISTORY are from Modern Indian History and only a few from Medieval and Ancient History. Students can cut down the load by concentrating more on Modern History of India. Geography portion needs an understanding rather than cramming facts. Indian Polity is absolutely factual and needs mugging up. In current affairs it's important to know recent facts about defence, various commissions, heads of govt/private organizations, sports events etc.
For Class X Students : Due to advanced technology being used in Air Force, Navy and Army equipment/weaponry, candidates with Physics, Chemistry & Maths are preferred. Therefore, interested candidates must work hard; get good percentage in Xth class to enable them to opt for Physics, Chemistry & Maths as subject after Xth class.
